The story is about a Gurgaon, Haryana based Kidney Transplant Racket.

“Prakash Bhawan, Chartered Accountant”, it is a nameplate at a bungalow at a posh colony of Gurgaon, Haryana but the thing that surprising for everyone that there nothing related to accountancy inside this bungalow. This bungalow was an illegally running kidney transplant center where poor people were trapped to donate their kidneys. They were brought here to get a good job. The agent tells them to get a medical test before the job and besides medical tests, they steal the kidney of the person.

Arun Ranjan belongs to a low-class family, seeking for some economic help for his sister’s marriage. Nasir, ground-level agents meet him and convince him to donate his kidney. He tells Arun that for this he will get two lac rupees. Arun agrees and admits to the clinic. He meets Dr. Dhananjay Saxena also. Dr. Saxena tells him that he is going for a Nobel cause and because of him, a patient will get a new life. Arun undergoes tests and tests confirm that his tissues are matching with patients' tissues so he is eligible to donate his kidney. Operation starts and next day Arun meets Dr. Saxena for his two lac rupees. Dr. gives him 5,000 rupees saying that they did not take his kidney because his tissues were unmatched. Arun is sure that doctor is lying. He wants his two lac rupees at any cost because he donated his kidney. When Arun gets angry, security guards throw him out of the bungalow.

"If they dont have bread,

let them eat cake."

Now Arun approaches the police and tells them all happened with him. Police are shocked to know how a kidney transplant clinic is running in a residential place and they are not aware of it! They start their investigations and raids the clinic.

Dr. Ramakant Bansal: Kidney Specialist

Dr. Dhananjay Saxena: Surgeon. He operated with Dr. Bansal. He is also a consultant at many hospitals that seeks receivers. He remains in touch with some ground-level Agents.

Nurse Marry Gomez: Assistant during operations. She also does post-operation care. Her work is to change the name of the Donor.

Ajeet Gulati: He is a lab assistant. All paperwork goes under him. He also provides all services to every patient from India or outside India.

Dr. Bhupesh Grover: He runs a medical center where the match of kidneys of receivers and donors is performed. He performs the entire operation as a very secret operation. His work was to alert everyone about any suspicious activity.

Nasir Kureshi: A ground level agent. His work was to search needy in several hospitals and to convince them to go through an operation in the clinic. After getting a patient, she brings them to Ratan Kapoor. Once the business is done, he informs this to Faizal.

Faizal Shiekh: He runs a mobile unit, which has all the pieces of equipment related to the blood test.

He lures poor people on the pretext of giving them employment but later fraudulently remove their kidneys without their consent.

Jhandu: Jhandu is a codeword. They call donor ‘Jhandu’ and they relate their blood group with the word ‘Jhandu’ like for a man with blood group A+ is called “Jhandu A+”.

The episode is based on a kidney racket busted during 2008 in Gurgaon, Haryana. The racket was running from the last 6-7 years and most of the victims were from western Uttar Pradesh. This racket was removing poor people's kidney and transplanting that to patients from the US, UK, Canada, Saudi Arabia and Greece. Police plotted their raid on 24th Jan 2008 after a complaint of a man from Moradabad.

Dr Upender Dublesh

According to police, the racket was running from the last 6-7 years in the city and for this they were paying up to 30,000/- to the donors. They lure people on the pretext of giving jobs, then removing their kidneys without taking their permission.

Haryana police issues arrest warrants against General Physician Dr. Upender Dublesh and his associate Amit Kumar. Amit Kumar, who was absconding, was arrested near 35 miles from the Indo-Nepal border in Nepal.

In march 2013 CBI court sentenced them with imprisonment of seven-year and a penalty of 60 lac each for fraudulently removing kidneys of poor people and selling them in 5 to 20 lac rupees. Amit Kumar is a resident of Akola, Maharashtra while Upendra is a resident of Faridabad, Haryana.

Three other accused lab technician Manoj Kumar (Delhi), Mohd. Shahid (Meerut) and Gayasuddin (Ghaziabad) were awarded five years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of 15,000/- each.

Five other accused in the case Jeevan Kumar, Dr. Krishna Kumar, Dr. Saraj Kumar, Jagdish and Linda were acquitted. The court ordered a compensation of 10 lac rupees each to the victim Shahid, Sakil and case witness Babu Ram.

"प्रकाश भवन, चार्टर्ड अकाउंटेंट". ये बोर्ड लगा था गुडगाँव के एक बड़े से बंगले में जो की इलीट कालोनी में स्थित है. मगर चौकाने वाली बात ये थी की इस बंगले के अन्दर एकाउंटेंसी जैसा कोई भी काम नहीं होता था. इस बंगले में गरीब और ज़रूरत मंदों की किडनी निकाल कर बड़े लोगों को लगा दी जाती थी जिससे की वो अपनी जिंदगी और लम्बी कर सके और इसके लिए ये काम करने वाले हर आदमी को मोटी रकम दी जाती थी. इस गिरोह के दो एजेंट गरीब लोगों पर नज़र रखते थे, उनको नौकरी का झांसा देते थे और मेडिकल टेस्ट के बहाने उसे एडमिट कर के उसकी किडनी निकाल लेते थे.

इसका ऐसा ही एक शिकार था अरुण रंजन जो की अपनी बहन की शादी के लिए रुपये की व्यवस्था करना चाहता था. उसे बताया जाता है की अगर वो अपनी एक किडनी डोनेट कर दे तो उसे इसके बदले दो लाख रूपया मिल सकता है. एक एजेंट उसको डॉक्टर धनञ्जय सक्सेना के पास ले जाता है. डा. सक्सेना उसको समझाता है की वो एक अच्छा काम करने जा रहा है और उसके इस कदम से किसी को नई जिंदगी मिलेगी. अरुण राजी हो जाता है और अस्पताल में सारे टेस्ट करवाने के लिए भर्ती हो जाता है. उसके सारे टेस्ट होने पर ये भी कन्फर्म किया जाता है की उसके टिशुज़ रिसीवर के टिशुज़ से मेल खा रहे हैं. ऑपरेशन शुरू होता है.

ऑपरेशन के अगले दिन जब तो डॉ. सक्सेना के पास रुपये मांगने जाता है तो वो उसे पांच हज़ार रुपये पकड़ा कर ये कहते हैं की उसके ऑपरेशन हुआ ही नहीं क्युकी उसकी किडनी रिसीवर की किडनी से मैच नहीं हो पाई. अरुण दर्द में है और उसे ये यकीन है की डॉक्टर उससे झूठ बोल रहा और उसकी एक किडनी निकाल ली गई है. जोर ज़बरदस्ती करने पर उसको क्लिनिक से बहार उठा कर फेक दिया जाता है. परेशान अरुण पुलिस के पास जाता है और वहां बताता है की उसके साथ धोखा हुआ. उसकी किडनी निकाल भी ली गई और उसको कुछ मिला भी नहीं. पुलिस ये जान कर भौचक्की रह जाती है की गुडगाँव की रेजिडेंशियल कालोनी के अन्दर एक बंगले में किडनी ट्रांसप्लांट कैसे हो सकता है. पुलिस अपनी तफ्तीश शुरू करती है तो एक के बाद एक परते खुलनी शुरू होती हैं.

डॉ. रमाकांत बंसल: किडनी स्पेशलिस्ट,

डॉ. धनंजय सक्सेना: सर्जन. ये डॉ. बंसल के साथ ऑपरेट करते हैं. ये कई अस्पतालों में कंसलटेंट भी हैं और रिसीवर को भी ढूंढते हैं. ये कई ग्राउंड लेवल एजेंट्स को भी जानते हैं.

नर्स मेरी गोम्ज़: ये ऑपरेशन में असिस्ट करती थी. पोस्ट ऑपरेशन केयर भी करती थी. और बाद में लैब अस्सिस्टेंट अजीत के साथ मिलकर डोनर का नाम बदलती थी.

अजीत गुलाटी: ये लैब अस्सिस्टेंट था जो पूरा पेपर वर्क देखता था. ये देश-विदेश से आये लोगों को साड़ी सर्विसेज दिलवाता था और कोआर्डिनेशन रखता था.

डॉ. भूपेश ग्रोवर: ये एक डायग्नोस्टिक्स सेण्टर चलता था और इसके सेण्टर पर ही डोनर और रिसीवर दोनों की मेडिकल जांच होती थी. एक पूरे ऑपरेशन को सीक्रेट ऑपरेशन की तरह से परफॉर्म करना और ज़रा सा भी अंदेशा होने पर सबको आगाह करना इसका काम था. उसी के सेण्टर पर दोनेर्स के नाम बदले जाते थे जिससे की डोनर और रिसीवर रिश्तेदार लगे.

नासिर कुरैशी: एक ग्राउंड लेवल मोहरा जिसका काम था शिकार ढूंढना. कुरैशी का काम था अलग अलग अस्पतालों में जाकर किडनी की ज़रुरत वालों को ढूंढना, उन्हें ऑपरेशन के लिए राज़ी करना और फिर उन्हें रतन कपूर से मिलवाना. सौदा तय होने के बाद वो फैज़ल को खबर कर देता था.

फैज़ल शेख: फैज़ल एक मोबाइल यूनिट चलता था जिसमे खून की जांच से सम्बंधित सारे उपकरण थे. वो गरीब, ज़रूरतमंदों को ढूंढता था जिन्हें पैसे की सख्त ज़रुरत होती थी. नौकरी की झांसा देकर मेडिकल जांच के बहाने क्लिनिक में भारती करवाना उसका काम था. इसके बाद रिसीवर और डोनर के सैंपल का मेल करवाता था.

झंडू: झंडू एक कोडवर्ड था जो डोनर के लिए इस्तेमाल किया जाता था. जिसका जो रक्त ग्रुप होता था उसका नाम उसी प्रकार "झंडू ओ पॉजिटिव", "झंडू बी नेगेटिव" से बुलाया जाता था.

ये केस आधारित है 2008 में पकडे गए गुडगाँव किडनी रैकेट पर. ये रैकेट करीब 6-7 साल से अपना काम कर रहा था जिसमे की ज़्यादातर पीड़ित उत्तर प्रदेश से थे. इन लोगों की किडनी निकाल कर अमेरिका, इंग्लैंड, कनाडा, सऊदी अरब, और ग्रीस तक के लोगों में ट्रांसप्लांट की गई थी. 24 जनवरी, 2008 को पुलिस ने मोरादाबाद के रहने वाले एक शख्स की शिकायत पर छापा मारा था.

पुलिस के अनुसार रैकेट करीब 6-7 साल से चल रहा था और डोनर्स को इसके लिए 30,000/- तक दिए जाते थे. तरीका वही था की पहले नौकरी के झांसे में क्लिनिक लाया जाता था फिर उनको भर्ती कर के उनकी किडनी निकल ली जाती थी.

हरियाणा पुलिस ने डॉक्टर उपेन्द्र कुमार जो की एक जनरल फिजिशियन थे और उनके एसोसिएट अमित कुमार के खिलाफ वारंट्स जारी किये. अमित कुमार, जो की शुरू से ही फरार था, उसको पुलिस ने नेपाल में गिरफ्तार किया.

मार्च 2013 में सीबीआई कोर्ट ने दोनों डॉक्टरों को सात साल की सजा और दोनों पर अलग अलग साठ-साठ लाख का जुर्माना लगाया. उन पर आरोप लगा की उन लोगों ने गरीब लोगों की किडनी को गलत तरीके से निकल कर पञ्च से लेकर बीस लाख तक में बेचा. अमित कुमार अकोला, महाराष्ट्र का रहने वाला है जब की उपेन्द्र फरीदाबाद, हरियाणा का रहने वाला है.

इसके अलावा लैब टेकनीशियन मनोज कुमार (दिल्ली), मोहम्मद शाहीद (मेरठ) और गयासुद्दीन (गाज़ियाबाद) पर पांच साल की सजा और पंद्रह हज़ार रूपए का जुर्माना लगाया गया.

पांच और मुजरिम जीवन कुमार, डा. कृष्ण कुमार अग्रवाल, डा. सरज कुमार, जगदीश और लिंडा को छोड़ दिया गया. कोर्ट ने पीड़ित शाहीद, शकील और गवाह बाबुराम के लिए दस-दस लाख रुपये का मुआवजा तय किया.
